Bismillah was shalatu was salamu ‘ala Rasulillah, wa ba’du,
Memang benar ada hadits yang menjelaskan bahwa apabila ada ayam berkokok di tengah malam pertanda ayam tersebut sedang melihat malaikat,
Dari Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu ‘anhu, Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda,
إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ فَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ، فَإِنَّهَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا، وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ نَهِيقَ الحِمَارِ فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، فَإِنَّهُ رَأَى شَيْطَانًا
“Apabila kalian mendengar ayam berkokok, mintalah karunia Allah (berdoalah), karena dia melihat malaikat. Dan apabila kalian mendengar ringkikan keledai, mintalah perlindungan kepada Allah dari setan, karena dia melihat setan.” (HR. Bukhari 3303 dan Muslim 2729).
Dalam riwayat Ahmad, terdapat keterangan tambahan, ‘di malam hari’,
إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ صِيَاحَ الدِّيَكَةِ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، فَإِنَّمَا رَأَتْ مَلَكًا، فَسَلُوا اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
Apabila kalian mendengar ayam berkokok di malam hari, sesungguhnya dia melihat Malaikat. Karena itu, mintalah kepada Allah karunia-Nya. (HR. Ahmad 8064 dan dishahihkan Syuaib al-Arnauth)
Status hadits tersebut shahih baik dari segi sanad maupun matan, Dalam riwayat Abu Hurairah maupun riwayat Imam Ahmad.
Keistimewaan Ayam Jantan
Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam menjadikan bunyi kokok ayam jantan di waktu malam, sebagai penanda kebaikan, dengan datangnya Malaikat dan kita dianjurkan berdoa. Ini bagian dari keistimewaan ayam.
Al-Hafidz Ibn Hajar mengatakan,
وللديك خصيصة ليست لغيره من معرفة الوقت الليلي فإنه يقسط أصواته فيها تقسيطا لا يكاد يتفاوت ويوالي صياحه قبل الفجر وبعده لا يكاد يخطئ سواء أطال الليل أم قصر ومن ثم أفتى بعض الشافعية باعتماد الديك المجرب في الوقت
Ayam jantan memiliki keistimewaan yang tidak dimiliki binatang lain, yaitu mengetahui perubahan waktu di malam hari. Dia berkokok di waktu yang tepat dan tidak pernah ketinggalan. Dia berkokok sebelum subuh dan sesudah subuh, hampir tidak pernah meleset. Baik malamnya panjang atau pendek.
